I start my blog on a day that began with tragedy. After working a sixteen hour shift, I came home to get some much needed sleep. However not long after laying down I can hear the tones on my radio in my semi coma. A bad accident has been reported and a neighboring fire department is requesting assistance.
As my crew arrives on scene debris is seen before the vehicles and it is obvious that this is going to be a long morning. We learn that sadly we have one fatality and another still in a vehicle badly injured. We get to work and do what is necessary to get the driver to the hospital. Now the cleanup begins.....
It is days like this when you realize just how fragile life can be and that it can be over before you know it.
